These are the Official Rules for the Innovators participation in the Colab Egypt programme (the "Challenge").
By applying to be a Innovator, you accept and agree to abide by these Official Rules and represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements.
What are 100%Open and Yomken.com roles in the Challenge?
The Challenge is administered by 100%Open, Huckletree – Shoreditch, Alphabeta Building, 14 – 18 Finsbury Square, London, EC2A 1AH. All Challenges will be set, moderated, administered and managed by 100%Open and our delivery partner Yomken.com who are based in Egypt. All entrants and Participants agree and accept that 100%Open’s decisions on all issues relating to the Challenge, including eligibility, shall be final and binding in all respects.
Who is eligible to participate?
UK and Egyptian Innovators will be invited to respond to the challenge question. Innovators can be individuals of 21 years of age or older, entrepreneurs, start -ups, scale-ups, SMEs, students or academics who wish to solve the challenge problem and partner with the Challenge Holder to scale the solution.
What do I need to do to enter the Challenge?
To enter the Challenge, Participants must submit their idea by completing all the required fields in the application form found on the Challenge website.
Once a completed application form has been submitted, it becomes a formal submission (a “Proposal“). It can be changed up to the point of the deadline.
What if I want to change a proposal?
THE ONLY WAY TO CHANGE A PROPOSAL IS TO WITHDRAW IT FROM THE CHALLENGE AND RESUBMIT A NEW PROPOSAL.
To withdraw a Proposal from the Challenge, Participants should send an email to info@yomken.com with the header “Withdraw Proposal”. There is no limit on the number of Proposals that can be submitted by a Participant. The odds of being selected depend on the quality of the idea within a Proposal and how the idea meets the judging criteria and not the number of Proposals submitted. All Proposals must be submitted via the link specified on the Challenge website. Proposals submitted via other means (e.g. email, through another website, post) will not be considered.
What are the programme key dates and deadlines?
Challenge launch 07 November 2018
Innovator Application Deadline 23:59 pm (GMT+2, Egypt) 5th February 2019 (the “Closing Date for Submissions“)
Judging of submissions from 7 February 2019
Results announced by 20 February 2019
Collaboration agreements from 21 February 2019
Publicising of collaboration agreements and programme close on 29 March 2019
ANY SUBMISSION FORMS OR PROPOSALS SUBMITTED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE FOR SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
What will be my/my organisation’s time commitment to the programme?
We can’t say for sure as it depends on the proposed solution, its readiness and whether it has any dependencies on other technologies. However we have provided an estimate to help you understand the time commitment. Of course, the more you put into the Challenge Holder collaboration, it’s likely that you’ll get more out of the partnership.
Complete and submit a proposal on the online platform – 0.5 days per application
Collaboration Agreements with Challenge Holders – 5 days per team member over February and March 2019
Publish Collaboration Agreement announcements – 2 days across project and communications teams
Ongoing engagement with the Challenge Holder after the programme ends in March 2019 – this depends on the type of collaboration that is agreed with the Challenge Holder and the commitment could hopefully be longer term
What will be my / my organisation’s financial commitment to the programme?
In Egypt, there is a lot of doing business face-to-face and therefore it may be beneficial for the Innovator teams to travel to visit Challenge Holder teams and sites during the collaboration agreement phase and beyond. The Challenge Holder may be able to help fund your travel but you may also want to provision for this in case they cannot.
How will my application be judged?
We will develop the detailed challenges with the chosen Challenge Holders, tailoring them to the company’s specific needs. The Challenge Holder will be a key member of the judging panel for Innovator proposals along with the project core team 100%Open, Yomken.com and Innovate UK. All submissions will be judged out of 100 points based on the following 6P Filter:
Proposer (15 points): What are your relevant capabilities and experience?
Proposition (10 points): How compelling is your idea or technology?
Pioneering (15 points): How new and different is your idea or technology?
Potential (20 points): How big is the market opportunity?
Practical (20 points): How easy will it be to implement your idea or technology?
Plan (20 points): What are the next steps to get your idea or technology to market?
Will my application be kept confidential?
Applicants must not submit any information that is confidential. 100%Open is under no obligation or requirement to keep any application or content confidential and no confidential or fiduciary or other legal relationship is created (or intended to be created) between an applicant and 100%Open / or Yomken.com / or Innovate UK / or Challenge Holders by submitting the application.
Who owns the intellectual property rights to my Proposal?
100%Open does not, unless agreed in writing with a Participant, claim any rights of ownership to any idea, information or content submitted as part of a Proposal (the “Content“).
All Participants retain ownership and copyright to their Content, and by submitting a Proposal, each Participant represents and warrants to 100%Open that the Participant is the owner of all the Content and is authorised to submit the Content to 100%Open and grant the rights, licenses and releases set out in these Official Rules.
What will be my personal information be used for?
Participants will be asked to provide their personal information (such as name, email, telephone number) data so that 100%Open can administer the Challenge or for security clearance, or other administrative or logistical purposes. As Participants progress through the Challenge, a Participant’s name may also be publicised and published.
Except as expressly provided in these Official Rules, 100%Open’s use of Participant’s personal information shall be in accordance with the Privacy Statement, published at https://colab.id/privacy-statement/.
What is the Governing Law and Jurisdiction for the Challenge?
This Challenge, including all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of a Participant, shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with English law.
