How can we raise awareness amongst youth on easier ways to apply for public services?

Would you like to improve youth engagement  and awareness with public services in Egypt? In collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - Improvement of Public Services Project (IPSP), we are looking for creative solutions to inform and teach the youth of different ways to learn about public services and how they can apply for them.

Background

The Improvement of Public Services Project (IPSP) is one of the GIZ projects implemented in Egypt to improve the Egyptian government’s efforts towards decentralization and reforming its public administration.

The project approach is designed to improve service delivery at the local level by strengthening subnational administrative structures and launching or redeveloping Citizens’ Service Centers (CSCs). IPSP’s interventions in improving public services encounter several challenges/problems (often of systemic nature) that require innovative out-of-the-box solutions. 

Currently, around  61% of the population in Egypt are under the age of 30, of whom are most likely to use government public services. Youth has a direct effect on the flow, spreading awareness of public services provided to the general public since they can take in the information through numerous channels through their ability to use modern technologies and versatile activities. Increasing the awareness of this large segment of our community will directly influence public awareness of governmental services in Citizens’ Service Centers (CSCs) and how they operate which should significantly contribute to the improvement of general public services and make it easier to access services at the local level, enable new and customer-focused services to be put in place.

The Challenge

To design and create an efficient strategy to raise the community’s youth awareness of the municipalities’ public services and the Citizens’ Service Centers (CSCs) and how they can apply to these services (ie. issuing a national ID, driver's license, shop license, building license, etc) by using different approaches in one of the youth-rich communities as youth centers or universities.

The proposed solution should demonstrate the following methodology:

• Describe your idea stating your approach (Gamification -preferred-, social media, IoT, Ads, ...)

• Applicable on different outreach channels (preferably at youth centers but ideas for another youth rich community is also eligible to participate) 

• Clearly outline your expected budget and implementation timeline (should you be selected for a future contract)

• Define your idea’s success metrics and why your approach  was chosen

• Low cost and maintenance approach 

• Easy and simple to apply

How to participate?

1. Submit a complete application form before the deadline 10/10/2021 11:59 (GMT+2). This idea should include an uploaded detailed proposal clearly demonstrating how the outlined criteria will be met.

2. The shortlisted candidates will be chosen based on the innovativeness of their solutions and will be invited to present their ideas in an online pitch competition. 

3. The best three winning ideas will be chosen by GIZ - IPSP. 

4. The GIZ reserves the right to invite you to sign a contract to implement your solution within a year from the pitch competition.

Reward and Conditions

The shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to present their ideas in an online pitch competition attended by GIZ members and  Yomken.com’s team.

A total reward of 30,000 EGP provided by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) - Improvement of Public Services Project (IPSP) and Yomken.com to the best three winning solutions (10,000 EGP each) with a possibility of future collaboration with GIZ to implement your solution.

As per Yomken.com’s  Terms and conditions and in case the intellectual property rights are not registered, the innovator should not disclose any sensitive unprotected information. Meanwhile, they should include all technical details required to judge the technical validity and feasibility of the solution.
