Innovative Candle Molds

ِDo you want to save the candle making craft from declining ? Do you want to guarantee a stable income for the candlemakers and help them produce candles in half the time ? can you find more innovative designs for candles ? Allow them to produce new attractive shapes of candles to expand their product lines and their products.

A call for product designers and artists to design innovative candle molds to produce more attractive shapes with good quality candles and smooth surfaces in many forms for a chance to win a reward of 700 USD in collaboration with EXPO 2020 to implement the solution. Please read on for more details!

 

Background:

Candle making is one of the oldest arts in history, despite advances in candle making, the candle industry declined rapidly upon the introduction of superior methods of lighting, including kerosene and lamps and the 1879 invention of the incandescent light bulb.On the other hand , the makers face many problems which affects the industry. These problems can be classified into two main categories:

• Problems due the technique used   such as: air bubbles , the concentration of oil at the end of the candle etc.

• Problems due to the used mold such as: getting fine lines on the candle from the molds, candles stuck in the molds, finding durable molds that does not leak while in production, or even finding molds with attractive shapes.

 

The Challenge:

To design innovative candle molds with different shapes to ease the production process and improve the products  quality, the submitted solutions must fulfill the following requirements:

• Endurance, the molds should be wear resistant and reusable for a long duration of time without leaking.

• Easy to clean.

• Metal or plastic (or any innovative material of your choice).

• Withstand hot wax temperature.

• Easy to release the candle from after cooling.

• It is preferable to design parts that can produce different forms with the correspondent assembly.

• Priority will be given to solutions with the most  innovative designs

Reward and Conditions:

The winner will receive a reward of 700 USD to implement the solution in cooperation EXPO 2020, according to the following conditions:

1. The solution should meet the aforementioned criteria;

2. The solution should include a clear plan of action including implementation stages, timeline, required tools/materials, estimated budget, and technical support required (if applicable);

3. The reward will be given in installments, in accordance to milestones set by the innovator(s) according to their plan of action;

4. As per our platform Terms and Conditions, in case the intellectual property rights are not registered, the innovator should not disclose any sensitive unprotected information, meanwhile he should include all technical details required to judge the technical validity and feasibility of the solution.
