(Regional Enterprise Development Center - REDEC Beni-Suef)

The Small Enterprise Development Association known as REDEC Beni Suef, is registered with number 438/ 1997 and works under Law 84/2002. REDEC Beni Suef delivers the following BDS services.

Financial Services: focusing on income generation, providing job opportunities for youth and supporting SMEs through the programs of (Fajr 1, Fajr 2, Entlaqa, Working Capital, and New Horizons)

Non-financial Services:  through the Enterprises Development Project, Skills Improvement Project, the Technical Consultancy and Support Unit, the Center of Economic Empowerment of Women, and gender equality and recruitment program.

Social Services represented in a Day Care

REDEC Beni Suef started in 1996, as a Regional Enterprise Development Center (REDEC) funded by CIDA with the aim of providing job opportunities to youth to alleviate consequences of privatization programs.

In 1997, REDEC Beni Suef was registered keeping the name "REDEC".

Upon registration, REDEC Beni Suef signed an agreement with the Foundation of International Training (FIT) as part of the framework for a CIDA funded project “Small and Medium Enterprise Development in Upper Egypt Project” (SMEDUP)

On the other hand, REDEC Beni Suef signed a tripartite agreement with Social Fund for Development (SFD), the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) for the development of SMEs in Upper Egypt.

REDEC Beni Suef institutional capacity and willingness increased to adopt development of community projects became a pilot of CIDA funded projects in Egypt. REDEC Beni Suef implemented unique projects for the delivery of financial and non-financial BDS.

EEDP joint the REDEC Beni Suef list of partner projects in 2008 to offer non-financial services for existing and start-up SMEs and integrating gender equality in its activities.

EEDP, through REDEC Beni Suef, will deliver a service package such as follows:

   • Managerial and technical training

   • Assisting in the delivery of financial services such as budgeting and taxation to SMEs

   • Linking SMEs to finance

   • Linking SMEs to suppliers of equipment and raw materials

   • Linking SMEs to markets

   • Qualifying for quality certificates

   • Assisting SMEs in licensing/registration

   • Assisting in product development  to reach the stage of export

REDEC Beni Suef also adopts the SME issues in the community of Beni Suef, the most important of which are:

   • Lack of trained labor in industrial zones in the Governorate (activating vocational 
     promotion, linking training of training centers with SME needs)

   • Marketing

   • Licensing of SMEs working in distillation of medical and essential oils

EEDP builds the institutional capacity of REDEC Beni Suef through providing capacity development opportunities to its staff and SMEs clients
